Kristen Chukes

Director of Color Guard

Kristen Chukes is a South Carolina native who grew up in Hartsville, SC. There she participated in the band by playing her clarinet for 6 years in a concert band setting, and played for 1 year in a marching band setting. That clarinet in marching band was quickly replaced by a love for Colorguard, as she proceeded to march her remaining three marching seasons in the colorguard as well as all four years of Winterguard. She went on to earn her Associates of Arts from Florence-Darlington Technical College and worked towards her Bachelors of Visual Arts from Francis Marion University.

Her teaching endeavors began in the summer of 2016, when she assisted teaching a band camp at South Florence High School. Skipping forward, she then started working with the Ridge View Blazer Band in the summer of 2022. She exudes dedication and passion for the sport and all of its participants through the hard work that is put in to ensure a safe and happy environment for everyone involved. When she is not working with the guard, she can be found working out at the gym, painting in her studio, or taking time to relax.

She was a member of the winter guard throughout high school and ended her high school career with color guard in the fall season. Senior year of high school, she was a semifinalist in the 2022 WGI world championships in Dayton, OH, with the MHS Varsity group.
Emma started working with Ridge View color guard in the fall of 2022 and plans to continue to assist the guard though future marching band and winter seasons. When she isn’t choreographing for the guard, she enjoys reading as well as creating art.
